The five Rooney Brothers had been set to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell last week, however Street and Smith’s Sports Business Daily reported that the meeting has been postponed. The meeting was originally scheduled for Thursday the 21st, but it appears that the meeting will take place on August 26th. The delay was announced on Monday, so the postponement was unrelated to Gene Upshaw’s untimely death.
This meeting has been long anticipated, and could signal the endgame of the on-going negotiations between the Rooney brothers over the Steeler’s ownership structure and the future of the Rooney family as head of the team Art Rooney Sr. founded in 1932.
