Steelers Noll, Cowher & Tomlin’s 45 Years vs. Browns 3 Coaches in 407 Days

A picture is wroth a 1000 words goes the old cliché. Cliché’s gain currency in communication because they’re true.

That’s one of the reasons why Steel Curtain Rising tried to rally Steelers Nation to ask the Rooney’s to get a picture of Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin with the 6 Lombardi’s. Thus far they have not done so and while Mike Tomlin and Bill Cowher are not going anywhere, Chuck Noll’s not getting any younger, and if press reports are to be believed, his health isn’t getting any better.

So for the time being photo collections or illustrations must suffice. Today we share one, brought to us via the magic of Twitter. And this one comes with a twist:

The plight of the Cleveland Browns has given Steelers Nation a great deal of amusement since their return to the NFL in 1999, although my good friend Ivan Cole has suggested that Steelers fans would be wise to root for a Browns resurgence.

Cole’s iron sharpens iron sentiment aside, one can’t help but chuckle, even if many football minds, from Ed Bouchette to Peter King, suggest that the moves might ultimately be the right thing to do.

But suffice to say there’s a lot to be said for continuity.
